Headsets

It seems that there is a consistent confusion about selecting a headset for your telephone. Any professional headset you select will have the option of a quick disconnect or ‘QD’ (pic).   There are two basic methods to connect a headset to your telephone. (2 pics)

Basic Headsets

The most common method to connect a headset is to use an amplifier.  Basic headsets require an amplifier or adapter to connect to your telephone.  An amplifier is a device that allows you to adjust both transmitted and received audio volume, as well as telephone compatibility options.

Unamplified also known as Direct Plug-Ins

Certain telephones have built in internal amplifiers.  As a result, these telephones do not require the use of an amplifier. Many of today’s current model telephones have a separate port either on the side or underneath the phone that is dedicated for headset use. Once programmed you are able to answer your calls with the telephone’s handset in the cradle.
